What you get out of chess class will depend upon what you put into chess class. You can play chess as often as you like. You can play online at a variety of sites including the Internet Chess Club. You can play in tournaments most weekends during the school year. A list of Kansas chess tournaments is available at the Kansas Scholastic Chess Association website. You can play with friends and family (but be gracious when you beat your Mom and Dad; parents have feelings too.) The more you play, the more you will learn. But if you just show up for class once a week and never play, you probably won’t learn very much.
