I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and started playing the cello in 4th grade.  When I went to church camp after 8th grade, I wrote a letter to myself saying how I hoped to someday have an orchestra of my own.  I went to Bethany College on a cello scholarship and I couldn’t wait to teach other children to play string instruments.
I started teaching strings in Salina in 1975 and retired last May after 31 years.  My assignment was Central HS orchestra and four elementary schools.  I also started a Strolling Strings group with my HS stringers to play for dinners in the community.
My husband David has partially retired as a music professor at Bethany College.  He conducted the band,
orchestra & jazz band there for many years.  I have two daughters:  Anne Marie, who teaches HS English in Winter Park, Colorado; and Holly, who teaches 2nd grade in Yuma, Arizona.  I am a voracious reader, an avid RVer, and I belong to a Gourmet Club in Lindsborg.
I sing in our church choir and sometimes play my cello there.  This summer we went to Alaska!
